John Webbe, 33 years old, very proud father of baby daughter, (see Abbie's page - http://abbie.shutterchance.com/), living in Stoke-on-Trent with wife Bernie - see her page - http://webbe.shutterchance.com/).

I originate from greater Manchester (the wee town of Mossley over to the east, nestling in the foothills of the Pennines), supporter of the Red Devils, and love having the camera attached to my head as much as possible, though I am a relatively recent digital convert (film has just become too expensive...) but I'm not looking back at all to those "glorious 35mm-days".

Decided to make the leap & upgrade to digital last year - I invested in a fantastic Pentax *ist DS digital SLR, which, compared to UK prices, it was a bargain from Hong Kong off ebay..... In fact, I've recently bought a new Tamron 18-200mm zoom lens from the same company & again saved a lot on the best UK price I could find.

The costs of 35mm film was just getting stupid & after a trip to NY in Feb '05, returning with 12 films for developing & putting on disk, it was over £100, and that was the final straw for me. I am positive I have paid off the digital SLR already just saving on developing costs alone.

Before this I'd been using a Pentax MZ50 for a good few years, and previous to that it was a good old, rock-hard, Pentax K1000 (a real work-horse of a camera, that was!!).
