Version 2 of 2 of this shot following the previous post - I've increased the contrast a bit to emphasise the mono-ness of this and really like the effect of the horizontal structure and the staircase in BandW.

Version 1 of 2 - this is a large liquid storage tank alongside Wellington Dock in Liverpool - I'm posting this one first and a BandW version next for comparison. This colour one shows some of the vertical rain-water staining coming down from the top of the tank as well as the horizontal structure with the diagonal stairs across both. The picture is grainy as I'd left my camera set on 1600 ISO for the last few months without realising it (fool!) and this was taken from quite some distance away zooming in whilst sat on the top deck of a bus, so maybe the focus ain't that great either. Just use a bit of imagination and maybe it'll all be okay......

Blackpool South Beach sculpture, adjacent to South Pier - this is quite a tall fella and at high tide it (apparently) draws the wind inside and tuned tubes emit a tune! Didn't hear it outselves as it was a lovely day and low tide when we were there.

Another sculpture on South Beach, Blackpool - this is such an interesting piece of work - it's called Broken Heart and when the light is right, it creates a shadow on the prom of a broken heart. Not sure what the spikes are supposed to signify, maybe pain, suffering?

This is start of a series of "rust" shots from a trip to Blackpool earlier in July - there's quite a lot of interesting public art on the South Beach seafront, much of which is metal and rusty, making lovely photos! This is a close-up of a rust-spot which was adjacent to some spray-paint vandalism and I liked the fact the blue paint has really demonstrated the relief of the metal, especially the right-edge of the rust-spot contrasting with the various oranges and reds of the rust.

This is part of the sea wall at the far end of South Beach in Blackpool, adjacent to the Go-Kart course where the tram does an about turn and heads back north. Shot taken on a lovely sunny Sunday on 13th July after little Abbie had been playing on the beach.

Jury's Hotel, Bristol This follows on from yesterday's shot, being the main hotel building adjoining the car-park next door. I have no idea why this turned out so grainy, the original was like that, but it adds something to the image. And can anyone tell me what the little pieces of metal are sticking out above the windows? I didn't notice them at the time, only when I got home and downloaded the images. They are all above the top-left corners of each window frame, so must have a use???

This is the car-park building of the Jury's hotel on the Bristol quayside area. I have recently been quizzed for our staff magazine about what is my favourite subject, and buildings like this are probably it - pig-ugly 1960's concrete masses which can make lovely photos, which in my humble opinion, this is. The repetitive patterns and the contrasts within the material is so attractive in BandW, whilst the CCTV camera reminds you this is a modern shot.
