photoblog image Liverpool storage tank

Liverpool storage tank

Version 2 of 2 of this shot following the previous post - I've increased the contrast a bit to emphasise the mono-ness of this and really like the effect of the horizontal structure and the staircase in B&W.

The stairs really come to life on this one. I like this better than the colour
urban8: Thanks Bill, can see what you mean, the stairs have a strange floating effect.
This is an excelllent excellent shot. You don't need to see the whole tank to get the essence of it - and I'm rather taken by the lamp which seems to be twisting itself around to do a double take!
urban8: Thank you very much, Chris! And that lamp is a strange fella, isn't it? It was a bit forward of the tank hence a bit out of focus, but still works.
This really works as well, I dont think I have a preference.
urban8: Thanks Nigel - I'm not sure which one I prefer as the change in colour almost makes two totally different shots which are difficult to compare.

this is a minimal but poetic rendition of an everyday scene, fantastic graphic quality to this. mal
urban8: I've never had the words "poetic rendition" used about one of my photos before, mal! Hope you're well & thanks for the great comment.
I have a shot of this with a little man half way up, a bit jammy on the day. Nice gritty rendering.
urban8: Have you posted that shot? Nothing jammy about it, though, just being in the right place at the right time. Cheers for the comment.
I preferred the colour, but it is interesting how the stairs almost seem to be floating in space in this one.
urban8: Cheers, Ian, that's exactly what I liked about this one too, strange effect isn't it?

Great lines and shapes.
urban8: Cheers Red Pen.
Very nice and very well seen!

Composition and contrast boost is great. A bit too noise, perhaps lower your ISO.
urban8: Cheers Paul, glad you like this B&W version.
