Historic Buildings in Stoke-on-Trent - 4
The wonderful Middleport Pottery, the only working Victorian factory in England, and home of Burleigh Ware ceramics - http://www.burleigh.co.uk/index.php - this factory was built in 1888 as a model factory for the pottery industry and the original steam engine which powered the entire factory until the 1970's has recently been full restored and brought back into use - it is also the only factory steam engine still in its original position in the UK.
Through advanced booking, you can go on factory tours, but I have just discovered this on the Burleigh site - http://www.burleigh.co.uk/burleigh-virtual-tour.php - a fantastic virtual tour with 11 different 360-degree views of the inside & outside of the building, which gives you a taste of the traditional methods of manufacture still employed here.
