Good tonal range and the angle certainly spices the shot up!
urban8: Thanks Martin - I took loads of angles, and this had the most impact.
Like the angle. This is the classic multi storey car park. God they are ugly!
urban8: They certainly are ugly, functional but ugly - so glad most new ones are better designed & hidden to look like normal buildings.
John, welcome back, we will find you again...love the perpective in this one, the B&W is just great, the angle is refreshing....I am anxiuous to see your next posts...have a happy hunting time for getting some pictures taken.
urban8: Thanks for the encourgement, Astrid, it's great to read!
It's a good photo John, but a dog of a building. How did we ever let anyone build things like these?
urban8: It is a question with many answers! Every town & city must have architectural mistakes & disasters from the 60's and 70's, but at that time, they must have thought they were cutting-edge designs. And without such buildings, what would we have to photograph???
You endeavours and fun diddling and fiddling have almost made this lousy lump of concrete look passible. ;-) richard
urban8: Yes, almost, but not quite! It's just fun trying to "improve" the appearance of such structures with a change of angle to the norm.
Ghastly structure, but the angle you've chosen somehow manages to make it slightly appealing. I'm also impressed by the lack of graffiti and lack of rubbish on the streets.
urban8: Great word, ghastly, like that, very suitable to this fella!
Newcastle-u-Lyme BC are quite good at removing litter & graffiti, much better than the neighbouring local authority too.
Impressive geometry. Interesting perspective.
urban8: Thank you for the comment, Laura
Great contrasts here, and it makes me feel a bit dizzy with that crazy angle. Great creation.
urban8: Oh, sorry, hope the dizziness has subsided! I like silly angles like this, you might have noticed in my archive, but I hold no responsibility for more spinny-head feelings, Chris
Not an angle I'm used to seeing this structure at John! Must admit did not recongnise at first due to your dramatic treatment. Works well.
urban8: Hi Noel - thanks for the comment - but very little treatment apart from changing to mono and upping the contrast a bit, everything else is as taken on the day.
I don't like the many super-PhotoShopped images on SC as I like to get the best I possibly can through the lens when I press the shutter. And great to see another North Staffs person on SC! There's so few of us - and you'll see my archive has loads of local shots over the last 18 months as I've been trying to "up" the profile of Stoke as there's so much to shout about here. All the best, John.
Nice angle on what could have been just a straight forward shot. Excellent detail as well.
urban8: Thank you, sir, glad you like this one! And I was pleased with the detail across the shot too.
i really like your funky angled images lately. you even made a concrete eyesore look good. mal
urban8: Yeah, I have been doing a few, haven't I?
I was scanning through my archive last week thinking exactly that, thinking maybe I need to do something different, but then went out over the weekend and carried on "as normal" with more silly angles. Oh well. |
